Privacy Policy
Effective 2026-09-05 · [Your company legal name, LLC]
This policy explains what [Your company legal name, LLC] ("we") collects when you use Chargetide, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
- Account: your name, a device identifier the app generates, and, if you link one, your email address.
- Driver details: your vehicle make and model, license plate (shown to the Host of a booking), home area (used to search near you), and ratings and reviews.
- Host details: listing address (shown to a Driver only after they book), access instructions, photos of the charger, availability, and price.
- Bookings and messages: what you book, when you check in, the location of your device at check-in (once, to confirm you are at the listing), any plug-in photo you add, in-app messages with the other party, and reports you file.
- Payments: handled by Stripe. We receive a token for your saved card, the card brand and last four digits, payout status, and transaction results. We never receive your full card or bank number.
- Identity verification: if you verify your ID, Stripe Identity processes your document and selfie and tells us only the outcome.
- Device and usage: push notification token if you enable notifications, basic logs (IP address, request times) kept for security and debugging.
How we use it
- To run the marketplace: show nearby listings, take bookings, process payments and payouts, confirm arrivals, deliver messages and notifications, and send receipts.
- To keep people safe: verification badges, ratings, plate on file, report review, fraud prevention, and account suspension.
- To improve the Service and understand demand (for example, "I wish there was a charger here" pins).
- To contact you about your bookings, your account, or changes to these documents. Marketing email, if we ever send it, will have an unsubscribe link.
Who sees it
- The other party to a booking sees what they need: Drivers see the Host's first name, rating, listing details, and, after booking, the address and instructions. Hosts see the Driver's name, plate, rating, arrival status, and any plug-in photo.
- Service providers: Stripe (payments, payouts, identity), Resend (email), Expo (push notifications), our hosting and storage providers, and OpenStreetMap's Nominatim for address lookup. They process data on our behalf under their own terms.
- Legal: when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect people from harm.
- We do not sell personal information.
Retention
Booking, payment, and report records are kept for as long as needed to run the Service and meet legal and tax obligations (typically 7 years for transaction records). Check-in locations are kept with the booking. Messages are kept with the booking. Login links expire after 20 minutes. Delete your account by emailing support@chargetide.com; we remove or anonymize personal data that we are not required to keep.
Your choices and rights
- Location: you can decline location access; check-in still works but shows as unverified to the Host.
- Notifications: turn push off in your phone settings at any time.
- Access, correction, deletion, portability: email support@chargetide.com. Residents of California, Virginia, Colorado, and other states with privacy laws, and of the EU/UK, have additional rights that we honor on request. We do not discriminate for exercising them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Card data never touches our servers. Access to production data is limited to people who need it to operate the Service. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach affecting you we will tell you as the law requires.
Children
The Service is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
We will post updates here with a new effective date and notify you in the app for material changes.
